The 4 most annoying things in social posts
Everyone is on a race to be seen. I wrote this because I have been noticing the same problems over and over again. The responses I get are “I’m not focused on design right now” or “this is what the template did”. Canva is not your design God. My goal is to share these common mistakes with you so more people can see you and remember you. Everything you create should not be difficult for the eye to see, for the mind to decipher, and for the ear to hear.
1. DON’T use different colors when creating subtitles for your videos. This is not about making it pretty, it is about making it readable. If your 70 year old uncle can’t read it, then you did a bad job. Also keep in mind that now a lot of social media platforms have subtitles built in.
2. DON’T put text on a busy image. This is similar to my previous note. When you are creating text you should ask yourself 3 things…
a. Is what I am saying clear and helpful?
b. Can I read it against the image?
c. How do I make it more readable?
3. DON’T write about anything and everything, you are sharing something for a reason, this isn’t a brain dump. Think of a post as a piece of furniture. Now imagine a bunch of chairs in your office. Do you want to add another chair?
4. DON'T let AI do it all for you. If you use AI, good luck, because if you don’t proof read it and make sure it sounds like you, no one will care.
