Session 1-2: Foundation & Direction
We'll map out where you are and where you want to go in UX. I'll evaluate your current skills and experience, then we'll craft a personalized learning roadmap. Together, we'll identify the specific UX role you're aiming for – whether it's product design, research, or interaction design. You'll leave with a clear understanding of the skills gap we need to bridge and your first set of focused exercises.
Session 2: Portfolio Strategy & First Project
Time to get practical. We'll dissect successful UX portfolios and outline your own. I'll guide you through selecting and structuring your first UX case study. You'll learn how to document your process and tell compelling design stories. We'll also review your progress on the exercises from session 1 and adjust your learning path as needed.
Session 3: UX Process Deep Dive
Now we're diving into the meat of UX work. We'll walk through a real-world design challenge using industry-standard methods – from user research to wireframing. I'll share common pitfalls to avoid and tools that will make you more efficient. You'll get hands-on practice with user flows, information architecture, and design thinking techniques.
Session 4-5: Interview Prep & Career Launch
In our final sessions, we'll focus on landing your first UX role. We'll do a mock interview focused on your portfolio, practice whiteboard challenges, and refine your design presentation skills. You'll learn how to speak confidently about your process and handle technical questions. We'll also create a 90-day plan for your job search or career transition.
Between sessions, you'll have focused assignments that build your portfolio and reinforce key skills. I'm also available for quick questions via email as you work through the materials.
